Re: April showers bring May flowers and June bugs. Our goals and progress thread

Hi Josette! Nice to hear from you. I don’t look at sale horses anymore (honestly!) I guess I don’t need to because they find me. Very nice TBs in the vids you posted. I’m still reeling a bit after getting a horse when I was so sure that Rocky was my last. I haven’t started a regular riding program w...

Re: April showers bring May flowers and June bugs. Our goals and progress thread

Following along here and keeping up with the progresses, trials and tribulations. Thanks for all the good vibes for my SIL. They flew to their home in MI today and everyone is tired but happy to be home. Their two Jack Russels are happy, too :) The PPE went well! The mare’s name is Besa. She’s a 14 ...

Re: April showers bring May flowers and June bugs. Our goals and progress thread

I’m keeping up with everyone’s posts, but just barely. I’ve been at the in Houston since Wednesday. Several family members here supporting my brother and SIL. Sorry I havent gotten back to this sooner. So busy with my SIL and giving her and my brother the emotional support they need right now. and trying to buy another horse at the same time. I am hoping Rocky doesn’t have a sinus infection…. So the crack is on the left, both vet and dentist/vet looked at radiographs on March 31 and gave her the all clear with a recheck in 6 months. I’m still thinking about the sale horse. I havent ridden her yet because she’s been in preparation for a show since I found out that she was for sale. Last weekend the working student took her to a clinic in San Antonio, and this weekend she went to the show in Houston. I drove almost 3 hours to wat...

Re: Looking forward to looking forward - March/April Goals and Progress

My wrap for this period: I didnt have any well defined goals this time. In summary of the last two months, March was a lot of travel time, injured hips, and difficult weather. So not a lot happened with my riding. April was better. I felt I had a handle on collected trot and canter, and I did most o...

I still like some of the oldies, like Tom Dorrance’s “True Unity”. Not everyone likes it but it works for me. Also Podhajsky’s “My Horses, My Teachers”. Both books are genuine horsemanship books and get to the heart of the horse-human relationship, in my opinion.

Yes, Susan, I also question HOW he got shot.
