Horse shopping, how did you know what you want?

So I'm horse shopping after sadly losing my 4 year old to Wobblers recently. The Wobblers showed up a few months after badly with pedal ostiestis (missed on PPE) among other feet issues and a surprise of arthritis in his lumber. What's really gutting is a few years before that I lost another amazing...

Re: Gadgets...for the rider

Demi, I'm not sure what the difference is weight wise. Mine came in a set of four. Each is a different thickness.

I would say mine are around 2.5 inches wide too. I'm looking forward to your comparison videos!

Re: Gadgets...for the rider

I ride a lot of greener horses, so while I was able to use the 10 inch, I think I want a few 12 inch ones as well for a little more room depending on the horse.

Demi, I'm using the lightest band weight right now. I'm impressed that you could ride with the heavy one at all!

Thanks for the video. Very nice, let us know if you try a lighter band.

I'm newer around here. I lost my 4 year old TB to Wobblers recently. I'm slowly starting to horse shop. To get back into shape some family and friends have offered their horses to ride. I use a resistance band for my student who likes to have her left hand take over when her left leg should be doing the work! It works. But I am going to read that link that Blob posted about. Update: he started acting Neurological during farrier appointments. After going to a clinic, we found that he has Wobblers among his many other issues. He fell a few times (once during the exam.)

So he was euthanized. So so so sad. He had the BEST mind. But his bones were failing him.

If he's stepping big but slow behind and has issues compressing the canter a bit (and I recognize in a 4yo this is a big ask), take a look at his stifles. He may be compensating for imperfect stifle action by taking bigger strides. Avoids having to compress and load the hind end with a quicker stri...
