Re: Putting 2020 in Hindsight: November-December Goals and Progress

Really nice photos Chantal! Both of you look happy. Good discussion on shoulders, I've realised that ding leans on his right shoulder when we do piaffe and I have to catch it at the start or have him in more of a renvers type position to not let it happen. We had our end of year dress up day for wor...

Re: Putting 2020 in Hindsight: November-December Goals and Progress

Demi - nice work! I really like the reins in one hand thing, it helps with straightness. Next step to help is whip held upright. Not sure if you use one though and do it cautiously at first, to see how the horse reacts. But practicing keeping it and you centred and straight upwards, has been helpful...

Demi, it's looking pretty good! Only little things that you will keep fixing because you can see them if you keep videoing yourself. One thing that my new instructor has helped me for straightness and not pulling inside reins is holding your reins in one hand (outside hand) and the other hand, touch...

Re: Putting 2020 in Hindsight: November-December Goals and Progress

I've done it a bit too with my old mare, who would hop up into a canter. A flatter faster trot in rising trot and then into canter helped her too. I had a good lessons on the weekend. I wanted to start working on passage and this style of riding/teaching is still quite different to my older way and ...

I've only got a half Andy, but if I got another horse and had the $ I'd look for a pure luso or Andy. We are a little limited here in Australia for breeders though. I dont understand the angled curbs, wouldn't that put the port continually into their palete? When a normal/straight curb is left to hang vertical it will be fairly neutral until you pull the rein to torque the mouthpiece.

I love riding in curbs now. I've been taught that you don't hang onto them and its a roll and release type action, so I love the lightness and finesse with this action - when I get it right! My 2 are quite different. Norsey will release well but tends to curl so the curb is quite loose and I need th...

The pivo does a pretty good job of videoing by the looks of it. My soloshot is failing again but I'd need to buy a new phone if I went to a pivo anyway. I like seeing where everyone else rides too. Ok, so totally inspired by Dresseur's successful Inter 1 competition ride, my aim this round is to ride a reasonable inter 1 test with Ding and I'll post a video of it here.
