Jeff Sessions is out

Was asked for letter of resignation, which he did just now. Resident has fired him, he did not resign by choice. Kinda saw this coming for months. Hope Resident doesn’t screw with Muller. Now it comes out that Gen. Kelly called Sessions to fire him. Resident is spineless, can’t even fire Sessions di...

Re: Need the most secure dressage saddle!

I know I wanted the one made in 2011, which is what I have. My trainer’s saddle had more use than mine, so the seat on his was not as cushy as mine. Mine looks new, because it had very little use. I’m not sure when CS made changes, but I know there were some issues with Custom for a while. Fitter wo...

Re: Need the most secure dressage saddle!

I have a Custom Icon Flight with short rolls. I had used my trainer’s icon Flight and liked how it felt, and it fit my horse well. So I found one that was made in the same year. The short roll gives security without locking you in place. On my leg, the roll ended just above my knee, so I could still...

Re: Cold is coming! Recommendations for boots, coats?

Great suggestions, thank you! I think I will head to Dover and see if I can try on some of the boots. Yes, we do have screaming wind here some days, probably more than wet or snowy days. Does anyone use something like winter overpants to put over breeches after/between rides? I usually get a pair of...

Cold is coming! Recommendations for boots, coats?

We have had a magnificent autumn here in Colorado, brilliant blue skies and bright turning leaves. However, we got about 3” of snow Saturday night into Sunday afternoon. Yeah, the sun has already taken it away, at least where I am. But it was 19*F taking the dog out this morning!! Brrrr!! Looking fo...

Re: The Colic Monster

Glad to hear good news. Easter's first colic was a doozy, but was also caught right away. We got him to the clinic within an hour or so. Stayed with him until 10:00, hoping meds would work. Left when he was heavily sedated. Got the call at 1:00 that they needed to send him into surgery, and I watche...

I have a coconut that keysfins sent me. I forgot, I have one too! It holds a place of honor on my book shelf. :D Oh, I remember sending those! :D Tarlo, I remember meeting you in the Keys and it seemed like we'd been friends for years. And I guess we had. :) I have some lovely pieces of dressage po...

no please, I am desperately uncomfortable with being helped. I am deeply touched by everyone's generosity, truly, even if it does extend to offers of microwaves and crockpots! excitingly, the central part of the house turns out to have asbestos, meaning we are now an EPA superfund site <sigh> Oh, c...

Re: "Mature aged" working students - advice?

Tarlo, no, we are actually in Florida for the winter. We moved from the Keys to the Sarasota area a few years ago. The climate in the Keys, even in winter, was just too hot and humid. <<<melting>>> I am currently a groom for a dressage trainer from Maryland, who has horses in Venice at a big facilit...

Re: Recent weird food cravings

I go on food jags. I think I could live on chicken fried rice from a bistro on the way home from the barn. I order for takeout and it's ready when I arrive. It's a healthier version than the usual fare, they do the rice differently, not really fried. Now I need to find a similar place down here in F...

Re: "Mature aged" working students - advice?

I'm an "older" working student. Go for it! My situation: I have been with my trainers over 15 years. I was familiar with the daily routine, and would help out any time needed, at shows, or back at the barn when they were away at shows, if someone was traveling, etc. When my horse was laid ...

Bobby's has such great quality, it surprises me a bit that they are not more popular. Maybe because they don't get the advertising and presence in the big tack catalogs? Hidden treasures, at a very reasonable price. Enjoy your new bridle!

Mine, too. I have some of the original light colored waterproof ones stashed away. And I live in my zip Terrains when not in my tall boots. The newer version of the Zips are much better than the first version.
