Glad everyone is recovering and you're getting help with the expense. I had a mare that had a strong reaction to the rhino vaccine, fever/extreme muscle soreness, I just quite giving it to her. Our herd was 98% "closed", so in general, it was an easy call. She was a broodmare, though. . .

What's your arena situation? Can you "free lunge" her over small jumps/jump chute (cavaletti, etc)? Some horses really enjoy that and it's good for hind end development. Clicker type training is very useful, your horse will come to understand when you are asking it a question, and will lea...

The coyote pic is early morning, that camera is on a game trail that emerges from deep woods, depending on time of day, you get strong shadow formation. We're still eating cabbage from CSA, so I made this tonight. I did modify it a bit -- when don't I? No sage, so I used thyme and ended up adding a bit of smoked paprika too. Well you inspired me (us - there was a lot of slicing and dicing!) to start here. Definitely a comfort food type of meal and ...

Thanks for all these great resources, it is fun, drool worthy reading. Narrowing down where to start is going to be a wonderful challenge! I like spicey food, in particular, so plenty to choose from and also like the fresh from the garden angle as we have a fairly large one in the summer.

I had a lesson a couple of years ago in a crowded warm up that was SUPER helpful. My mare is small, and gets intimidated by big horses coming at her or behind her - and there was a big, noisy stallion in the ring, and the rider would ride up pretty close to the other riders. The lesson involved - F...

KootKat, for me at this point, it's a guts issue... I used to do some dumb, dumb things - got close to 5' with horses that shouldn't have done it. But also got tossed enough times by some bad actors that I started to develop fear and defensive riding habits to fences. At this point, I haven't jumpe...

Two full siblings, the bay mare (and moi) and Lexus, a gray gelding, ridden by Tracy Lert. Although the color is a distraction, they are very similar in type, with long, typey faces and very kind eyes. Both have the same less than ideal neck with similar movement and good hind end mechanics. Tracy s...
