I think she would be better off without the sheet. The sheet is not enough to keep her warm and may impede her natural ability to fluff for warmth. I suspect she will be OK, I would say make sure she has enough to eat, but. . . . it looks like she already has!

How about a piece of molding (it could be very simple, just a board) that is painted the same color as the wall below it. That way you will not have a "visual belt" around the room, but could create a natural transition to a lighter color above it which you could also use on the ceiling.

I suspect as Joplin matures, you will find Anna looking out at you. Both my youngsters (who are not so young anymore) have become more and more like their dam as they age in their expression/eyes. It is bittersweet but she left them with a kind eye.

I just wanted to comment that one thing I noticed about coming off my very sensitive, very spooky mare was that she seemed to react to losing me also. I was always in a position to get right back on, but I did notice it seemed to affect her confidence, just something to keep in mind.

She may be physically uncomfortable (the way some people are) when her hormones are in that state. I had an Arab mare that was very uncomfortable when cycling, would squeal/kick out when asked for transitions, etc.

I trust you spoke to whoever those people report too. That's not just negligently gross, it's a health hazard. Those towels should have been washed again (and again), until they came out clean. Bleach would have been a good idea, too. And then there's cleaning out the dryer.

Having a horse with grass induced laminitic problems, this was the first thing that occurred to me. Fall can be a tricky time (depending on your weather patterns), if it's been dry and you start to get into a wetter season, the grass coming out of dormancy and growing again can be a serious trigger.
