Re: Simple pleasures. The grilled cheese sandwich...

Yummmm....

Large batch grilled cheese-butter outside of bread, layer with your preferred cheese (real cheese!), mayonnaise, and any other good things. Bake on parchment on flat sheet in the oven @425 for about 7 minutes, flip them over and cook another 5 to 7. Perfect!

Re: What would you tell your 20 year old self if you could?

Pay more attention to your money! When you buy your first house with a basement suite, keep it, don't sell it to finance your next one. Don't buy a horse with your student loan..... Speak up for yourself. And, life is short, enjoy every moment-even if it means trying to get joy out of vaccuming (I c...

Re: The new Canadian Cabinet

Interesting mix! I really like the approach of everyone walking up the driveway together, instead of showing up in dark private limos. I do hope it truly signals a new era in "open-ness" in government, but time will tell. And.... A first nations person as minister of justice! Wow, consider...

Here's a tangent idea to living wage that I was blown away by when I first heard it on the radio.. http://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/as-it-happens-thursday-edition-1.3074402/medicine-hat-becomes-the-first-city-in-canada-to-eliminate-homelessness-1.3074742 Medicine Hat Alberta has created homes for...

Re: Need to place my mare

Ah, too bad you are on the opposite side of the continent from me! I think i could have offered her a very good home, as I'm very set up for my two prone-to-laminitis horses, and looking for a horse for my horse crazy neice to call her own! Good luck finding her the perfect home. I'm sure its out th...

Re: For Tabby (and others) Canadian Elections

So I guess we (BC) gets to determine majority vs minority. Wow. Personally I think I'm rooting for Lib minority with an NDP balance. Then Mulcair and Trudeau would have to figure out how to get along. Regardless, I'm so glad this country voted against fear.

Thanks DG, i hadn't seen that. Looks just like an elections canada ad. However......holy red wave atlantic canada! This will be interesting. I love that election coverage began when eastern polls closed as i can actually watch the polls come in. Usually in BC we're blacked out until7pm, and at that ...

Argh! My keyboard switched to french and while fixing it I lost my post! Well, here's the condensed version. Yup cost of the platform. Kande love those rocks! Now that my 3 horses have 8 good legs between them, i have time for other things. Love to cook, along with a good glass of wine. Summer hobbies flower gardening/landscaping our place, kayaking and fishing. Once winter draws in its pretty much knitting while hockey's on, and g...

Re: What will it take for gun lovers to say ENOUGH

Well dang, my carefully craft post disappeared-I didn't hit submit! From north of the border, there are things I simply don't understand about this discussion. Seems to me that every few months, after a mass shooting, the discussion starts up again re "motivation". As worthy a discussion a...

Re: For Tabby (and others) Canadian Elections

DG-I totally understand your confusion. I've been flopping back and forth. Both the Libs and the NDP have points in their platforms I agree with, and I've voted for both in the past. I know neither local candidate. I've even done a few online quizzes that purport to help you indentify which party yo...

Hi Tabby-I knew from the old board you'd show up in the political section at some point! Seriously, do we really need ...

For Tabby (and others) Canadian Elections

For those of us Canucks who have made it over here-what's your take on the current elections? Advance polling-is there something "hinky" going on? My husband and I were dropped from the voter's list after being on it for 15 years. Elections Canada then told me my polling station was 2 hour...
