Sad News--Rockabilly
Our own Rockabilly has crossed the rainbow bridge. She passed on Thursday. While I never met her in person, she and I were email "pen pals" for nearly 20 years, starting on the UDBB. I am really at a loss for words. She was such a kind soul and a good friend. I will miss her terribly, as I...

Re: 2020 training hopes and dreams
My hope is to enjoy my older mare after two years and two injuries to the same leg. It’s been one disappointment after the next. Rehab has been an arduous journey. We were beginning to show third before the first injury. I have no idea if we will get back to that level but if I can enjoy her even in...

I just ordered full custom petrie Olympic boots from the Dutch boot company. Apparently I’ve angered both the German and Dutch boot makers with my measurements. They also write back and say no! 15 min of walk, on buckle and also shorter reins, to check adjustability. Lots of free walk on diagonals and then shortening reins on short side. I’d do whatever keeps him the quietest, likely away from other horses who might get rowdy. My vet wanted very small turnout for my horses two tendon injuries and I opted for a larger area where she felt less confined and therefore quieter.

My horse popped a high splint on the outside of the leg this summer (she’s 16). It sort of appeared one day with no heat/swelling. Vet did not think it was anything to be concerned out.

Definitely no tack room imo if pulling with a suv. Sway bars would be a must. I have a 2h straight no dress and an F150 and it pulls great. If I rountinely pulled two horses I’d move up to a 250 though.

Don’t know if it has a more formal name, but a ribbon candy exercise W and T. It’s a half ten meter circle, then cross the centerline, then a few steps of leg yield into a new half ten meter circle and repeat down the arena. It’s more dynamic then a serpentine imo.

Thanks for the notes, it made a lot made sense, along with many other comments too. I’ve come to realize you need a lot of power to keep the connection and have effective half halts.
