How do you break up with your farrier?

My farrier is a really nice guy. But he's twice cut my horse too short this year resulting in me having to give him time off.

I'm switching to another farrier but I have to tell my old farrier that I'm switching. How do I do this?? Ugh.

Re: Who rides bareback?

Too often probably. Mostly I do it out of lazyness or to save time. I use one of those success saddle pads to cushion the bum. They stay in place pretty well, too. I wouldn't recommend it on another horse but my boy is a saint. I also love to ride with no shoes on. Feels fantastic. But if I do too m...

Re: Bits and spurs

Boudicca horses have different mouth conformations and sensitivity which is why I’ve tried different bits to fit Joplin’s mouth conformation. I don’t subscribe that it is always the hind end at all. Karen Rohlf definitely does not as well. Why she developed a bitless bridle though I have not had to...

Re: Bits and spurs

No spurs. I use a single jointed bradoon both in the double and same one for my snaffle bridle. I think the nutcracker effect is a misunderstanding of mechanics and plus my horse doesn't like the tongue pressure of the double jointed bits and has a small mouth. I have a thinner curb for the same rea...
