I rinse off when sweaty in the summer after a ride, but only give soap bath once or twice a year. I do wash tails more often as I have mares which means icky pee tails.

I noticed they really like baths since I got an instant hot propane hot water system. Best $140 I've spent.

I would recommend a plain white salt block or plain loose salt. Not a mineral block. Juliet Getty author of Feed Your Horse Like a Horse says those are best for getting salt in a horse without overdoing minerals.

Not much to do but get new whips and write in very obnoxiously loud ink on the new ones. Whips are hard to keep locked up in a tack trunk. The other option would be to keep them in your car.
