Re: Talk to me of long lining/double longeing/ground driving
demi, That book sounds interesting. Could you please list the titles of the first few chapters? The description on Amazon talks mostly about in-hand work, and some reviews say it is not for a beginner. My horse lunges well, and we have done some ground work W/T/C with long lines. I just want to mak...

Thanks all for your interest! There were a couple of other issues going on with this horse that I haven't even mentioned but I don't want to incriminate anyone so I am trying to keep identities anonymous. I'm thrilled about my new horse but have been hesitant to introduce her for several reasons. She is a 12 yr old, 15.2 hh half Arabian half warmblood and was trained to PSG by age 9. I may post a picture but she is only a shadow of her former self at this time. Not the seller's fault. Seller lives in...

I hate the rolkur stuff and I too, think the horse's gaits look artificial, but I still like to watch the the guy ride...I guess it's like how I can love animals as much as I do, but still am able to eat meat. Irrational.

Well, I've always thought I would ride until I just can't get on a horse anymore. I like that thought. I think the older I get, the older the horse will have to be just so we will be well matched physically. Rocky is 8 and I'm 62. I also just bought a 12 year old mare. All the side reins are training her to drop her back. This is not the way to creating a good posture and healthy horse. It is also not dressage. How do you know a halt is really forward? Because you will feel like at any second you could give an aid for trot or canter and the horse could just float up into it.
