Let's sweat some! July/August goals and progress thread

Yesterday was the start of July and man is it hot and humid here! We are high 90's and supposed to hit 100 tomorrow and the humidity is always present:( but I have a clinic to prep for so I am slogging on. My goals are to ride/work them at least 4 times a week (all 3), get on Joplin and ride her wit...

caveletti and hill work for the dressage horse

I used to event many moons ago, so cross training was kind of built in to my work. I have not jumped in years though at least not under saddle, I have done some free jumping but not much. With Joplin she was showing some sticky stifles (growth spurt and butt high a bit) so I was trying to do some ca...

I deal with a tail scrubbing Lusitano (also known and has long flowing locks!) just the top of her tail thank goodness but still, grr. I don't really agree that the lack of reactivity indicates physical issues always. It can, but it can also be that particular horse's tendencies. It has nothing to do with being hot or lazy IMO. In fact a hot horse can often be behind the leg. I do agree fitness plays a part and IMO training that be...

IMO the lateral work in canter is about encouraging engagement (as long as the canter quality is not disturbed) so renvere in CC is going to target the outside hind leg of the horse.
