Re: Cool down and keep going! September/October Goals and Progress.

Flight love the canter pic! It's funny has fitness has a way of rearing it's ugly head. I'm hoping to zip off a few more pounds and fingers crossed that the young horse stepping up work will help with that. Had a successful quiet and obedient ride in the indoor with lesson kiddos. I just stuck to wh...

Re: Cool down and keep going! September/October Goals and Progress.

Yay Dresseur doesn't it feel grand to be back in the tack?!? Had a mixed week. Hard to tell but we're experiencing some tension when riding with others/during lessons when I come to the barn after work. It could also just be fall temp drop spicey-ness? To be determined. On one hand I don't want to k...

Re: Cool down and keep going! September/October Goals and Progress.

A working student actually suggested it for a barn name. When I purchased her last year the breeder was calling her by her registered name, Kouture. It was a "K" year for the KWPN registry. I have lots of preferred names that start with K than that but I believe the bad juju with changing ...

Re: Cool down and keep going! September/October Goals and Progress.

Kora has bounced back from her big overnight show adventure quite well. I was expecting her to be more wiped from it but she hasn't really. We had some good last taste of summer moving into fall air weather this weekend. I worked on the reliability of the canter transitions and leads. Trying to shar...

Re: Annwylid Dare to Dream

Just came over to watch the test, which congrats on some really positive things. Like with lots of judging the harsh can come with a bit of true. It's probably woefully unfair to call him a "horse with limitations" as he doesn't appear to be struggling with the work in this test. That said...

Re: Cool down and keep going! September/October Goals and Progress.

Adding to the discussion to me straightness is the end goal. Starting and riding young horses that straightness works on a scale not a black/white or 1 or 0. You can't make a 3 year old ride Grand prix level straight but you can work towards it incrementally. I saw that with my own young horse this ...

Re: Cool down and keep going! September/October Goals and Progress.

I’m not a purist either way shoes or no. I think we have to listen to the individual horse and what they need. Kora is doing fine barefoot for now and heck it’s saving me some cash so I’m not complaining! She got shod in the front last year for her inspection as breeder was worried about her showing...

Re: Cool down and keep going! September/October Goals and Progress.

Yikes Ponichiwa, I know what it's like to examine the footing more closely being spiked myself a few weeks back. Even just the soreness seems to appear quicker and stay longer than when I was younger. Kora and I had a bit of a mixed weekend. During Saturday's ride the neighbor threw the woods starte...

Re: Cool down and keep going! September/October Goals and Progress.

And now for something completely different... We have big plans for September, heading out to our Regional Championships to see the sights and sounds. I'll be able to get lessons in the warmup from my trainer and get her out and about while also cheering on friends and volunteering as well. This wil...

Re: Let's sweat some! July/August goals and progress thread

Our goals are simple as my trainer says, 'Crayons'. Trying to build on good experiences, get out in the fields for hacking once 1st cut is done, walk/trot/canter obediently and confidently and loads of field trips. We're rounding out the end of August and I wasn't feeling particularly productive bu...

Re: Let's sweat some! July/August goals and progress thread

Well it's been a week/s of ups and downs. The downs being bucked off and the ups having another fairly positive schooling show once we got down to the ring. Young horses, they are dramatic!! Haven't quite figured out but I believe we are encountering some tension/worry when I come to ride her after ...

Re: Let's sweat some! July/August goals and progress thread

Ugh Mountaineer!! I concur on the footing perhaps exacerbating an issue perhaps? A bit of highs and lows this week too. I was circling the worry drain of is it uclers? is it saddle fit? is it chiropractic? The answer is none of those but an incorrect Regumate dosing due to air in the dosing gun. Fix...

Re: Let's sweat some! July/August goals and progress thread

To be honest riding inside the coverall arena was more worrisome than outside due to the space between the wood built kickboards and the structure itself. She did settle into warming up but there was some avoidance of the edges at the start for sure. The outside she didn’t give a second thought but ...

Re: Let's sweat some! July/August goals and progress thread

Oh gosh, jingles to you blob. At least there is some consolation in actually seeing the incident than forever wondering the 'what if's or how's in the hecks'. Hope you find out it's less dramatic and just painful inflammation of whatever internal damage is. Ryeissa- Car accidents are no joke and the...

Re: Let's sweat some! July/August goals and progress thread

Lovely Khall, Joplin is adorable. It’s still quite hot here, warmer this weekend than they were initially predicting of course. There is a touch less humidity so at least I didn’t have to wake up to go ride and be done by 8:15 am. That worked for us last weekend but there was still a lot of sweating...

Re: Let's sweat some! July/August goals and progress thread

Well we are definitely sweating a bit more than 'some' as of late! One of the nice parts of having a young horse is I can pick/choose her work days versus her hack day according to the weather a little bit. She is quite butt up in the air right now so we are still at 3 days of 'work', short and swee...

Re: Let's sweat some! July/August goals and progress thread

I don't post much but love following along so I thought I'd dip my toes in this cycle. The details: 4 year old KWPN mare named Kora with some serious ears  She was backed last year then had the winter off to grow. She's been back under saddle since late spring and we went through a whole lot of...

Re: SeamsRight pretty much out of business

My pads arrived and I forgot to update, oops! They are the same high quality as previous ones I have and I am quite happy with them. It took a bit to arrive but they were waiting on a flannel delivery. I'll likely wait a bit and place another order to be stocked up. I'm hoping as time goes on maybe ...

Re: Safe, sound, and all that (sort of a spinoff)

That would have taken you a lot of perusing then. What I see is someone puts up an ISO ad, and everyone with a horse for sale responds no matter if it meets the searcher's criteria or not. That was the best part! Surprisingly no!! There were several ISO ads with 50+ replies that I just clicked thro...

Re: Safe, sound, and all that (sort of a spinoff)

I have to laugh as this was PERFECT when I was searching last summer for a young, barely started warmblood mare of good lines. I simply perused other's ISO ads and contacted those that peaked my interest. Took a long weekend driving trip with a few lined up and worked like a treat for me. Didn't eve...

Re: SeamsRight pretty much out of business

Well good news, at least for me! I finally got back around to calling again. I have 2 luxury box quilt pads on order. I was so excited that I forgot to ask about other pad types Musical Comedy. It’s worth a call if you haven’t found a suitable replacement. They have pared down options for sure. I us...

Re: SeamsRight pretty much out of business

Spoke with them this morning. They don't have all their machines set up yet and will be likely 'going back to basics' on the options available. Right now they are only doing the basic flannel and a lite pad w/4 inch diagonal quilting. Basically they only have their 'simple' machine going for right n...

Re: SeamsRight pretty much out of business

Hmm, I’ll have to give a try after checking my pads for size at the barn. I have a stack of pads but pretty much only use my seamsright ones it seems! I want to make sure if I can place an order I have the right specs for them right then. Is the phone number on the website still current? Looks like ...

Re: SeamsRight pretty much out of business

No!!! I’ve loved these pads. Do you have any further info? Are they closing down for good after the end of the year? I usually got the luxury box quilt, did they say what they are still making/stocking if still carrying on with business? I’m tempted to place a mass order even if I don’t get it until...
