Re: April showers bring May flowers and June bugs. Our goals and progress thread
Well…no training today but she got her hill work  . The old girl (she turned 20 on 5/19) still looks pretty good. She has been stall bound all since Sunday due to all the rain and the arenas have been closed. Hopefully at least one of them will be open tomorrow. What had her so entranced and bu...

Sorry LSP, those are high heels. The bone alignment almost looks like a woman in stilettos. I was thinking about getting Kyra shod but seeing stuff like this, I think I will stick to BF and boots. I hope you find a competent farrier soon. Well, I had a nice ride Saturday then the monsoons returned a...

SF—I tried Hoof Armour last year and it didn’t help. In fact, I applied it as directed on a dry hoof and within days, her whole sole shed, taking the Hoof Armour with it. I tried it one other time as I had some left and didn’t notice any benefit. The other thing I thought about trying is Scoot Skins...

Boy demi, that is one sweet mounting/dismounting block. I have to fish around to find the step on a 3 step block. Fingers crossed I haven’t had any problems. Poor horse has to just stand still with me hanging off the side until I find the block. At the new barn, there are some nice big granite rocks...

Chisamba…I had my right hip replaced in 2015. I was back on my (one) horse in 4 1/2 weeks. I had a Superpath approach so none of the muscles were cut. Silly me. I have no idea why I thought the Baucher bit wouldn't work with the PS of Sweden. I put it on that bridle and she worked really well in it. She was very even in the contact/connection. I don't know if it was the day or she actually is happier in this setup. The only downside, she is a lot ...

What an enjoyable day at the barn today. Temperature of 72 degrees, light breeze, and a seemingly happy horse…what more do you need? One thing I have been striving for the last month is getting Kyra relaxed enough to be able to W/T/C on a loose rein. I don’t feel we need to be in dressage mode every...

I hate sticky breeches. Then again, I use a seat saver that is fairly ‘sticky’. I have found exercise pants from Land’s End that work great for riding pants and they have the little thigh pockets so I can easily carry my phone.

Yes, I need to get the PS of Sweden and try the bit on it. That would be the most economical. I wish I could have more leisure time at the barn but I have to be pretty economic in my barn time. That is a nice bridle but back to whether a bit that is the Baucher configuration will work on it. I can test that with the PS of Sweden.

Exvet…I am finding the same thing with Kyra. Now that we are working in nice footing I have this big bounding canter to the left. Something she hasn’t normally been known for. Foam on one side of mouth
Since I started riding this spring, Kyra has been pretty fussy with the bit(s) and she is foaming quite a bit on just the left side. Good job exvet. Kyra would have been toast with the wind. I don’t even think it is the blowing flapping stuff but just that the wind distorts all the sounds and her alert level goes to DEFCON 1. How does he move? Does he swing the leg in an arc rather than stepping straight through. I had a horse that pulled/tore the round ligament in the hip.
I don't remember how he stood but as he moved he swung that leg out in an arc. He healed up fine but sure moved strangely for a while.
