Re: i lost my horse-- RIP, Gristle
I lost a dear mare this year, too. The first few weeks were so hard, but then (as PaulaO said), the smiles start to come through the tears as memories other than the final days bubble to the surface. Hugs to you.

Chance meeting of DDBBers!
I was in Toronto last week, visiting my sister. This was the first time I've managed to schedule a visit to coincide with the Royal Winter Fair (yay!) so bought tickets with a few friends and my horse-crazed niece. We get settled into our seats, and then the occupants of the neighbouring seats arriv...

Thanks to everyone for the sympathy, hugs, and understanding. I am at the point where the good memories of our time together are asserting themselves over the sad ones from the end, which is a good place to be.

Thanks, Chancellor, for giving me a month to celebrate my dear Morgan mare, Quinta, who passed away this summer. I gave a little of the story in this thread: http://www.definitelydressage.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1644 I grew up riding Morgans - mostly as an unsupervised teen tearing through the f...

I love the costume on studly, exvet! What a good boy he is. Congrats on the change, Mountaineer! We had a fantastic lesson on Saturday. Oh, I am so sorry to hear this. I enjoyed your posts about Miaren, and the two of you always seemed to be having such grand adventures. A really tough decision to make, even when it is the right one. I hope retirement is good for him, and that he indeed bonds up with Emma.

Like Chisamba, I've been spending more time on the trail with the lovely weather and fall colors. Trying to be really conscious about straightness, even while 'just' trail riding. I'll try and get some NC fall photos tomorrow.

Goodbye to a fine Morgan mare
(It has been a few months, but I just couldn’t write the post until now) In August, I said goodbye to my sweet black Morgan. Quinta was a character. Not a mean bone in her body, but also slow to trust, with a very short list of people on her ‘good’ list. Perfect ground manners, unless you were walki...

I like the PRI fleece-backed pads (I *think* that is what Flight means), e.g.

Not too expensive, but they wash up well and last a long time.

If it fits you and fits her, go for it! I would have happily bought brown, but black was what I found used to fit both of us. I see mostly black here in NC but the occasional brown. I've never heard anyone make a negative comment about a brown saddle.

I don't have the book in front of me (so I can't give you a chapter list), but I do own a copy. It starts from basics and goes through quite advanced work. Sorry about your hen, boots. We have a great local bird vet who will see chickens, and he says that it is very common for birds to go from everything-is-just-fine to nearly-dead in a very short period of time. We had a very similar experience with one of our hens earlier this year. Seemed fine Thurs...

The air vests are meant to be used in combination with a standard body protector vest, not alone.
