Re: Clipping

I used to always clip (full body with a fade into legs) and then blanket appropriately. Weather here is not super predictable (can be suddenly warm and suddenly chilly) and unclipped horses could easily get sweaty. But, the barn I'm at now and have been for the past year doesn't blanket unless there...

Re: New USEF tests are out!

That medium trot down CL in 2nd level is weird. Never seen that before except in freestyles. yeah, agree. It would be harder to gague impulsion if the judge is only at C. Its my weaker area, so I won't cry about this  Which 2nd level test is this in? But also, not complaining, our medium trot ...

Dawn it is! Thanks everyone.

I think it'll just need that one good dawn cleaning and then I can condition/oil and go back to normal leather care.

Best way to clean very dirty tack

Yikes! I've tried effax cleaner, leather therapy wash, leather CPR, and the passier saddle soap. all of these are cleaners I've liked in the past, but this tack is just too full of gunk. And it seems...

Re: Putting weight on a skinny pony

It takes a while for weight gain to show externally, so you may just need to have patience. Maybe add a fat supplement like rice bran or Renew Gold. That's helped my hard keeper get some bloom and roundness. You can get a bit more bulk in than you can with oil. Grass nutrition is probably waning at...

Re: Putting weight on a skinny pony

Yes, it's definitely not a lot, I just know so many ponies do well on next to no grain. But yes, I think increasing makes sense at this stage when things aren't really changing.

Probiotics definitely can't hurt! Good suggestion.

Putting weight on a skinny pony

Hi All, New DDBB member, former UDBB (RIP), and COTH mostly lurker here. I recently purchased a project pony. I don't know a ton about his history. He's 6 years old and I'm his fourth owner in that time, so inevitably there's a lot of lost details. He's also quite green and a bit fearful, so I'm not...
