Fun to see all the updates and pictures! I've been hit and miss here a good bit. I know nothing about Masterson method in body work, though I have been intrigued with it. I use WIH with jaw flexions if needed and yes those jaw flexions do make a difference in the horse. I do WIH with all of mine before I ride using lateral work also to test and see how they are feeling that day. I then get on and walk a bit long rein before I move to trot and canter. I like lateral work in all the gaits and foreword and back in the gaits.

So in my search for greater understanding of the work we do in dressage I have taken Jillian Kreinbring's biomechanics course twice now. Mine are not nearly as extensive as what you have had to deal with DJR, but worrying still. The uncertain: Came back from Portugal to find Rip breathing rough in work especially at the canter. Riding skill is just the seat in general. I have a very flexible lower back and so tend to hollow there. Training changes on a more difficult horse to do them on. Like others, I can ride them all day long even down to 1's on horses that have the training (or at least an understanding) and the abilit...

I think in Georgia you almost have to clip to do hard work. At least I do. My horses tend to sweat. I do a blanket type clip on Rip and a trace on others. I'm lucky Joplin has little to no winter coat:) and does not require clipping. I know in Florida they have to clip, it is way warmer down there.

Having someone hold up the same side front foot which is much easier than holding up other hind is just as effective.
