Re: Horse shopping, how did you know what you want?

Josette yes thank you. I should reach out to her, maybe she has something not yet on the market. Travelling right now will definitely be a pain. Ugh. That's why I'm shocked that horse's are flying off the shelves. But I think slowly more and more are buying sight unseen too. I wish I could do that b...

Re: Horse shopping, how did you know what you want?

One breed I'm interested in, oddly, is Arabians or crosses. I've always not been keen on them but I've ridden a few and gotten along with them. Maybe I'm just had access to great minded ones but I've felt fine with them. I know their croups can sometimes not be great for Dressage but looking at a fe...

Ponichiwa, yep!! In shocked because I also expected lower prices. There is a lot of "here's a decent (but not spectacular) quality OTTB, 3 years old, had 4 rides, has some issues, $10k" and yes everything is selling quickly. Like in days or at most, a few weeks. I wish I could flip a horse...

The Fresian cross is very cute. I'm really hoping to find something that's at least 4 years old though. Maybe I'll go check her out to see though. I agree she looks like a push ride but I find it hard to judge off of videos. Sometimes I've had horses go very differently than what the video showed!

Re: Horse shopping, how did you know what you want?

Tanga, not the TB! He turned out to be out of this world a push ride. I know some can work with that but honestly he just unfortunately wasn't my type of ride. I'm sure with rides he'd sharpen up but I just felt temperament wise he'd never be the type for me. Darn it. My vet told me to pass on the A...

Ryeissa, yep, not normal. Not even in a "he's forward type way" which I wouldn't say he was. He was a ball of nerves. Interestingly I wasn't that nervous. I used to ride some pretty hot horses for people and I think it desensitized me a bit. But they didn't do the blind panic bolt. I could...

And yes a horse reacting to the leg even strongly is okay IMO. But not to panic about the slightest bit of leg. This was panic for sure.
