Re: Stall mat experiences...good and bad please?
Any comments on whether or not buying something like EZ Grip Mat Mover is worth the price? That's what I use to move my rubber mats. They are big, heavy, and awkward, and with the EZ Grip Mat Movers I can move 30+ mats in one go without getting too tired. I tried vice grips but they were harder for...

Re: Stall mat experiences...good and bad please?
I just use the 4x6' stall mats that are 3/4" thick rubber with ribbing on one side (the bottom side, for better drainage underneath) and pearling on the topside for traction. I've used them over sand in one of my barns, over sand-on-gravel in another, and over cement in my oldest barn. They do ...

Re: Traction for my old dog?
I never had much luck with dog boots/products for traction. They work at first, then get a layer of dirt/dust on them and lose their effectiveness, at least in my experience. I bought a bunch of rubber-backed mats and placed them strategically in the house. I did this for each of my Danes as they gr...

I ride a Friesian/Percheron gelding (17.1h, Second Level, schooling Third, was the provincial Second Level AA Champion in 2014). And a full Percheron gelding (17.3h, was the provincial First Level AA Reserve Champion in 2014). And more recently a young Fjord-X (14.1h Fjord-QH) mare, who has won ever...

I wouldn't trust wiktionary to be the definitive guide to whether the hair on a draft's legs is "feather" or "feathers". Here is a site that goes into great detail on feathered horses. At the very end, there is a statement about "feather" vs. "feathers". http:...

I got a pair of heated mittens for farm work, but the coil inside the mitten ran right over a part of my hand that I use all the time when mucking out, so they were a no-go for that purpose.

I echo all that quinta said. I took a bad fall in May this year and landed hard on my back (I think). I have no memory of the event or of the subsequent ~45 minutes. I ended up with a focal sore area in my mid-thoracic spine that resolved on its own, and a severe concussion. I was wearing a helmet &...

Re: How do YOU define Intellectual Property?
CT, just FYI, I didn't bring any UDBB posts to my version of DDBB. I, like most on UDBB when Mark closed it, had no access to it when I started DDBB. And, when I closed my version of DDBB, I saved nothing from it. Really? That's odd. I have a strong memory of the Truck thread, Blowdrying a Chicken ...

I don't like the high neck blankets, but that's because I have a Friesian/Perch and only classic necks fit him. The high-neck blankets ride up too high and don't fit through the shoulders at all.

My last speeding ticket was on my way home from the funeral of the man who formed the health organization I work in. Re: Where did UDBB posters go?
I don't go over to CoTH anymore - to those who do, was there ever a post there discussing the demise of the UDBB and subsequent spin-off boards? It seems like that's the "back-up board" for a lot of people - when the UDBB was down even for a few hours, people used to congregate there... I...

Re: Keurig or Keurig-style coffee makers: Do you like them?
We have one at work and I love it. I drink decaf and cannot drink caffeinated coffees (I have a tremor and caffeine makes it much worse), so it's a great way to get a fresh cup of decaf without commandeering a communal pot when others like caffeinated brews. The wasted plastic bugs me, too, but we r...

Re: Micklem Bridle
I don't know why I bought a Micklem for my Fjord-x pony, but I did and it fits her beautifully. She's a cob-size but the small horse Micklem fit her nicely. I may try it on my long 2 yr old who just started wearing tack as I think, as others have said, that it provides a bit more stability. The only...

On UDBB, the file size for attachments was capped at the default size suggested by the software. I believe it's the same here. I can't remember how big was "too big", but I think it was something like 1.5 mB??

I've been grinched two years in a row. Not nice! For that reason, I bowed out of the exchange last year, but am willing to try again this year. The first grinching happened before I started being Admin on UDBB so I can't blame that as the reason! Hopefully this year it won't happen.

October is a difficult month because the daylight is fading early enough that getting home from work in time to ride here at home is very, very challenging.
