Have you considered massage and body work? I would be tempted to ask the Vet about doing very gentle range of motion body work from the ground with a trained horse body worker before any mounted work. Various slow gentle leg stretches.

My mother always made them in a skillet on the top of the stove, no baking, simmering in the tomato based sauce so they were never dry. Then we ate them over rice. One of my favorites. I may have her recipe. You’ve made me hungry for them. I’ll have to look for the recipe.

BTW rabies in horses can be different than in other mammals. It can be depressed rather than manic in many/most cases. I know of vets treating horses here in Az who didn’t recognize it since the horses were so depressed and later had to go through rabies protocol themselves after it was identified.

I’m with Tuddy! I’ve used OKeefes brand for both hands and feet on a daily basis for years and it works! Even in the dehydrated desert heat this product actually helps. Walmart carries it at a reasonable price.
