I am very glad he is ok. Im sure it was scary like hell!
But the hose is a bad idea as aspiration is very real.
I also suspect maybe the teeth float changed his bite just enough to do this...but I too would be careful.

You may be right that they are doing DAs/HHs nearly constantly but there are certain schools of riding who claim that the higher you go in training, the more the horse is in self carriage and therefore DA/HH is not needed. Of course you never see these people doing much but walk/halt. PK defines hi...

I give it separately, just in my hand, with a small amount of grain (Carboraider Complete or Triple Crown Sr) and he eats it out of my hand. Its never been any issue. I don't want to put it in his bucket of supps, this way I know he actually eats it.

I make sure I have an opening hip and make sure I"m not blocking my horse. This is really important. Every one of us has a heavier seatbone, and hip/thigh/lower back what have you stiffer/tighter that the other side. This will always be reflected in the horse by 'difficulty' going/doing one th...

I do not think that side reins are the root of all evil, how silly. I do think they contribute mightily to the breakdown of many sport horses. This was in response to a now deleted post from Tsavo referring to taking an ex=jumper and turning it in to a second level horse in a year. Abby, we don't know what the sport horses in Dr. Dyson's study were doing. They could have been event horses or jumpers. Sounds like you are assuming they are dressage horses ridden badly.
