Re: Kringle exchange?

Ok let's do this. Chisamba, you made me smile. Instructions to come tomorrow. We still have the UDBB Santa email address so I will reset it for this year tomorrow morning, set the timeline and away we go. I have an empty questionnaire. Some people had trouble copying the questions from UDBB last ye...

Re: General photography related stuff thread

I had some hopes of developing a photography hobby, but find my time and interest is just not there for a DSLR - I love photos but am more the point-and-snap type.... so, I am about to try to sell my Nikon D5100, but find (as I took it out of its carry case) it looks rather dusty.... is that a big ...

Re: Worth updating to Windows 10?

I've heard Windows 10 + the newest LR CC Update is working about as well as cat herding. Yes, makes me glad I rather avoid LR. I like my chaotic cataloging system, thank you very much.  I'm a devout LR hater. RTR, I think it was pushed out last weekend, it's the newest CC update. I heard...

Re: Tell us about YOU.

And I live in NW Michigan, am 57, and a retired high school biology teacher. Was one of those kids whose first word was probably "horse", took my first lessons at six, Mom and Dad bought me my first horse at eight. My older sister swore she wore them down... After years of fooling around ...

Re: Worth updating to Windows 10?

Is 10 that great?

I hated Vista, didn't much like 7, really dislike 8.1.

XP was the best and I want it back!

Re: Question for photographers - web based quality and touch ups

Agree with Suzon. For web images I resize to 960px on the long side and a DPI of 150 - a little bit above industry standard.

For 'high res' files I resize to 4000px on the long side and 350dpi.

I only retouch if prints are purchased through me or if retouching is paid for.

Re: General photography related stuff thread

I'd try Elm photography in Cleveland for retouching. That's where my stuff goes when I don't have time to do it.

Re: General photography related stuff thread

So glad to see this over here!

We killed our D800 on Saturday at a wedding - the strap failed and it landed on the asphalt on it's top. I'm insured but it still sucks.

I have a ton of weddings this month, lots of travel.

And, I'm still in love with the D750 and my 105 2.8 Macro. It's amazing.

Re: General photography related stuff thread

Can anyone point me towards so Photoshop / photo editing tips? I'm pretty good at the shooting portion but I think my photos would look much better with some post processing. Check out Creative Live or Lynda.com - they both have wonderful classes! I finally bought the Mastin Labs presets and I'm lo...
