I think single joint is fine. My big honking (retired) WB gelding has a low palate and a surprisingly narrow jaw. He always went better in a single joint bit.

When my geldings pee, their urine is clear yellow to start and ends up looking milky yellow at the end. I think this is normal, with calcium carbonate concentrated at the end of the void. When the urine dries on the pea (haha) gravel in their runs, there is a chalky yellow area where the milky urine...

You could try cutting an oval or two out of an old heavy towel, soaking it in water, and squeezing it out right before you put on your helmet. In general, National Monuments are not on people’s radar and will be less crowded than National Parks. I personally would avoid the Maroon Bells in the summer. Yes, they are spectacular.
