If you know your horse does not do well without work (breaks fences, acts "untrained" etc.), keep him in work.

Seems like the Mercedes-Benz SUVs, esp. the GLE in a diesel might be worth a look. Big, fairly powerful and mileage in the higher 20s for highway.

klark_kent07, that is very similar to my strategy. It is very different from what I've done with most of the horses I've ridden (a lot of hot TB types) so I think it took me awhile to accept what I needed to do for this horse! I feel like I act "super caffeinated" for the first few minutes...
