My last one

Postby Shirrine » Sun Oct 17, 2021 1:59 am

After 14 years of trying to breed myself a German riding pony I at last have one to suit me. Jess is my last foal that I will breed. At 4 1/2 yo I am now able to ride her. At 64 she is also probably my last saddle horse.
Meet Jess ( Shirrine Fin Parfiate) which means perfect ending. Every girl wants a pony for Christmas and I got one with my very last, Jess was born Christmas day.

I’d love to see your pony but I don’t do Facebook and it’s not accessible. :?

Oh she’s cute! She reminds me of my little red pony mare. Mine is a 13.2 half Welsh half Arab 23 year old firecracker. I think you’ll have real fun with her!

Very nice, and chestnut to boot :). Wish I'd considered ponies when looking for my last riding horse.

She is 14.1 and once we get our act together we will have so much fun I think. She is the most honest horse I have had just needs time which I have given her. Jess is a total sweetheart. She went to a teenager to take out and grannify for me but didn't educate her as such. That is my job.

Very nice. There is nothing like a good chestnut mare. :D
Keep calm and canter on.

What a little beauty! Never say never...I bought a dutch colt to replace my 17 yr old Prix St George horse two years ago and he has been quite difficult. Too smart and very opinionated. So I found a AWSP colt that is like a dream, well-handled, loves people, beautiful head and conformation. I can't wait to start him. And I am 65! I keep saying this will be my last horse. Ironically, since I bought the baby, the dutch colt has improved dramatically (probably just growing up and my perseverance). I warned him that baby could be his replacement!

My body is telling me probably the last. I do have a 5yo Shetland for harness so I won't be giving up horses just the riding. I don't know when that will be but if Jess lasts me into her teen I will be in my 70s. Don't think at that time I will be looking for a new riding horse.

'Grannify' Love this.
We got a 14.2 4 year old QH gelding in July. Looks more like a TB than a QH. At 69, he is probably my last baby and exactly what I need.
He had been lightly started by some super western people, so no leg or rein contact at all. They hacked him everywhere ... over bridges, through water and in the bush.
My grandaughter rode him lightly 2-3 times a week all summer, 'grannifying' him for me and I took over 5 weeks ago. He has such a super brain. Trot is big and forward and steering/contact has improved so much. I just started some canter...it's huge and wonderful although he has given a couple of teeny little bucks just to tell me I'm pulling his on face.
