Question for photographers

Where do you get your pics printed? I have been invited to show my work in a gallery and frankly have not had prints made since all the photography shops disappeared!

For sizes up to 8 x 10, at home. Most ink jet printers have a "photograph" setting and you can buy glossy paper for photograph printing from most office supply stores. On Amazon, use the search term, "ink jet photo paper." Printed results looks like a full sized print from a photograph enlarger. But the ink is NOT water proof, a single drop of water will ruin the print. Also, when printing in photograph mode, you use a lot of ink in a hurry.

They can print in any form you might need for the gallery. Excellent quality.

If you are in a big enough city, there should still be labs that will custom print for you.

Gallery quality you definitely would want some level of control over, I would think

If no custom lab, I've also used Bay Photo and been happy with their variety of products and quality.

I use a lab that only prints for professional photographers.

I refer my clients to Mpix, though!

Thanks all. Ocala is NOT a large (or medium) city. We lost our only photo store a while ago. I'll check out the options mentioned!

How large are you printing?

If you are on the small side, I'd use a 7 color printer over the standard 3-4 color...

And anything much larger than 8x10 - def pro prints for gallery quality... I don't think you will get gallery quality off a home printer IMO...

I think my service uses WHCC. >.> I know it's bad that I don't remember this right now, but I'm almost certain that is who it is.

My clients normally message me that they their photos are gorgeous, and I haven't had any complaints about print quality from them at all. I sell canvases too and I haven't had any issues there either. In fact, I've had people order one canvas and when they received that one, they have contacted me about how well it turned out and order another canvas or two.

I use mpix.com. Prints are delivered flat, quite a few options, and it's relatively cheap.

Snapfish deliveries larger prints in tubes - sturdy to be sure, but still rolled.

BayPhoto shipped larger prints flat.

And no, I wouldn't use Snapfish for gallery prints

WHCC is pro only, but they publish their wholesale prices. That's one of the reasons I left them and went Miller's.

Interesting, didn't realize WHCC is pro only but for me, if I was going to do gallery, I'd probably stick with BayPhoto as I've used them off and on for a while.

Enlargements where they are more for me (and therefore probably a bit less fussy), I've used Snapfish when they have sales
