So it's NOT cellulitis

Postby PaulaO » Thu Jul 14, 2016 3:26 pm

Saw the breast surgeon Monday and she said what I have it not cellulitis, but a delayed reaction to radiation. IOW, radiation induced breast fibrosis. EIGHT YEARS after radiation. :shock: She said it happens, but this long of a delay is not common. Now I'm on a PAD drug to increase blood flow to that area (along with vitamin E) to help healing. I'm also looking for an oncology massage therapist to see if manual therapy will help break up the scar tissue.

What bothers me is that my beloved Bob developed fibrotic myopathy in his left hind, which eventually weakened his hind quarters enough that he couldn't stand. I'm associating my condition with his.

PaulaO, maybe also look for someone who can do MFR (MyoFascial Release) as that may also help release scar tissue.

Hope this clears up for you. {{}}

I'm so sorry you are going through this reaction. Maybe the ladies at breastcancer.org can give you feedback. Best wishes!

Well, crap. Jingling that you easily find the people you need to help clear this up quickly and comfortably.

I am not familiar with fibrotic myopathy. I hope they have ways to overcome it.

The only cure for fibrotic myopathy, which is what my horse had, is surgery to excise the scarred tissue. Not a great success rate. Bob"'s was pretty severe, only at the walk, but I could no longer ride once he developed it.

I've asked the cancer center to find me an oncology massage therapist. I have an excellent therapist, but I do n't know if he'd be comfortable working on my breast.

Oh dear. I am sorry you're dealing with this after beating cancer already. Please look after yourself when you have a spare minute to fuss over yourself!!
