Kudos to her and her well trained horse. I haven't followed the jumpers in years, but is a double the standard bridle?
Re: Grand Prix (jumping) in just a bit and reins
A little hard to tell cause the pic is dark but I think they meant that she doesn't use a noseband on him. if you don't need it don't use it

Re: Grand Prix (jumping) in just a bit and reins
Went on line to search other pictures (since the one in the article is dark) and found photos of the horse in a full bridle and some kind of bubble bit, as well as a photo of him jumping (big!) with a naked head and just a neck rope! So, I can't say what the caption means, but apparently there's been some experimentation with this horse.

I think full=complete. Susie Hutchinson rode a horse with just a bit and reins years ago.

In the picture there is no bridle, no crown piece, no brow band, just bit and reins, like Chancellor said.
Re: Grand Prix (jumping) in just a bit and reins
Wow! Was there any explanation why? You'd have to keep a steady contact to keep the bit in the mouth, and doing that jumping is pretty impressive. I just wonder why?

No, nothing but a bit and reins

Is that Bruce Springsteen's daughter?
Her horse is out of an Alcatraz (Holsteiner) mare, I had seen somewhere long ago that he was a fabulous broodmare sire. . . . He's got quite the jump on him.

yes! have you been under a rock

Lovely ride.
Re: Grand Prix (jumping) in just a bit and reins
In the case of Woodstock, he hated wearing a bridle. Jimmy Williams devised a way - I don't know what it was - to keep the bit in Woodstock's face, that met with the horse's approval.
