Yikes! I'm sorry to hear others have had water issues too.
TeresaA - You do get some wicked cold weather especially with that wind chill!! Very glad you were able to resolve with the hot water and blankets. I didn't know a well could be so shallow at 20 ft. Many years ago when I rough boarded at some old farms their wells were approx 75 ft deep. We had issues during droughts in the summer. Scary thing is many were near toxic super fund sites - NJ is notorious as a toxic dump state.
Amygdala - I hope you have an easy fix that will not cost you too much.
We are waiting hear for the drill crew to show up this morning - so will let you know how it goes. If I recall last time they pulled out some seashells as we are near the coast. Our soil is sandy - excellent drainage, minimal to no mud but not the best for maintaining pasture (basement is always dry no matter how wet outside). I rely on hay and the little grass is for entertainment - not food source. I'm really looking forward to running water again!!
