Sicily was lovely!
We had so much fun! Huge family and friends reunion wedding, stunning place, great food.
The wedding was perfect. My new daughter in law looked stunning and my step son is so very happy. The location was extraordinary, the whole event radiated love and happiness. My husband sang "Ave Maria" on a stage behind the Greek Amphitheater overlooking the Mediterranean, and it was just all rather magical.
So some happy snaps of the occasion--as I was sitting in the front row I couldn't take pictures during the ceremony itself

Wow, how many folks were there?! Cake looked spectacular and bride had the right physique to wear such a classy gown! The Italians (probably Sicilians, too) are such a warm, wonderful people. Ready to pack my bags now....

Re: Sicily was lovely!
I think there were at least 80 people there, texsure, and that's not counting all the multitude of little kids who were not at the wedding itself. You couldn't shake a stick in that small town for 5 days without bumping into a member of the extended family and friends, and I know 35 of us descended on a restaurant for lunch one day. The Sicilians were very kind, delighted to be hosting such a happy party, and made us feel very much at home. And everyone behaved themselves admirably, even, mostly, my husband's ex-wife.
Yeah, bride is not a cake eater, which is why she can wear Vera Wang...
There was a bit of a mix up at the reception dinner as it suddenly started downpouring with rain and we all had to flee inside for a course, so we weren't sitting were we were meant to be sitting. I ended up happily eating half a plate of the utterly delicious risotto that was put in front of me before it was whipped it away from me by a rather anxious Maitre D. Unbeknownst to me and my champagne cheerful self it was loaded with crustaceans, which I am not meant to eat, and though they had been instructed to make me a special dish by my ever thoughtful step son, they couldn't find me. So I ended up breaking out in some fairly spectacular hives, which didn't spoil the party, but made my last couple of days and the trip home rather uncomfortable. Fortunately, bride's father is an allergist so I was pretty sure I wasn't going to die on his watch. (Her mother is a horsewoman, so that's good!)

It looks like a beautiful joyful occasion. Sorry about the hives

Wow looks amazing! That's a massive cake if the bride is a non cake eater It all looks beautiful.
The hives wouldn't have been fun though, but glad it was tasty !

What a beautiful place and gorgeous wedding. Was the cake cryo-preserved to be eaten over the next 50 years a la Seinfeld episode?

We did way quite a bit of it between us at the reception, but my suspicion is that some of the layers were fake
