I FINALLY rode Phoenix!
After what feels like the longest wait ever, I got to sit on Phoenix! She's been in training 6 months now and I was finally able to walk on her! I'll be talking to the trainer this weekend about doing more as I cant afford more training at the moment, and I think she'll be fine. BUT I RODE MY HORSE!! We did take the lunge line off and I walked her that way awhile too, I just didn't get any pictures without it

Congrats! You've been waiting so long for this day, and from the pics it looks like the wait was totally worth it.
Can't wait to hear more.

Nice!!

Your mare is so pretty!! What a terrific accomplishment!! I know you said money is a factor, but I strongly suggest that you're able to walk, trot & canter before you take her on by yourself. You've spent so much time and money to get her to this place in her training, you want to make sure that you are able to maintain it, without a major setback (not trying to be a downer!).

Oh I definitely agree! I am not worried about w/t/c at all, she is going beautifully. But the trainer is... particular... and since he's not very familiar with my riding he wouldn't let me yet. That's part of what I plan to discuss with him this weekend.

It's such a wonderful feeling to sit on your horse for the first time, especially when you've been waiting for so long! Congratulations!!! She is so beautiful.

How are things going with your girl? Have you had the trainer talk yet?

I did! It went much better than I expected and he is going to let me ride her with his supervision this weekend to see how we get along. We'll go from there on a decision about what to do while I'm in school and out of money.

Re: I FINALLY rode Phoenix!
This weekend went wonderfully.
Saturday I rode Phoenix with the trainer. I was so nervous I really messed things up in the beginning BUT I pulled it together and by the end he said he feels comfortable with me riding her myself now. He does recommend riding her not alone (I wouldn't have anyway) and preferably with someone who has some experience with the young horses around to help if I need it. One of his old students is a friend of mine so she is helping me and has been invaluable already! I still have so much work to do on myself as a rider and on my position, as well as my lunging skills, but Phoenix is great! I rode her Saturday, Sunday, and today! There was a little baby barn swallow at one end of the arena today and she got a little looky with it but she was still great, not even a full "spook"!
I have a couple videos from today. I'm just so thrilled so although I'm nervous about showing my own riding, I'm sharing here anyway! Lol

You guys look great!! Will she be staying at the same barn as you take over her riding?

Oh that's wonderful! So much easier to continue at the same spot than to get a horse back from the trainers and settled into a different place!
