My grocery store bought phalaenopsis. They just don't quit. I've had them for 3 years in my kitchen window and they have been pretty much in constant bloom.

My favorite flower is carnation. That was my grandma’s favorite too.

Many years ago, a neighbor (who had a rather large collection of feral cats) gave us 2 black kittens which she had socialized. They were cute as buttons, very affectionate, and bold. Early on, Crick disappeared, I think the roof estimator snatched him while he was here. Watson was with us for a few months. He was an intrepid little fellow, and ultimately it led to his demise when he made a visit to the pasture. I found him there, his back broken in a major way, I'd like to think it was very quick. DH buried him for me and we planted daffodils over him. To this day, these are the only daffodils which come back in full bloom every year, all the other ones just put out leaves over time with no flowers (any hints on this?). Anyway, every year Watson brings us spring.

Paula, I didn't see any fresh flowers at the produce market today. If I do, I'll look for carnations but I think it's too early for them. My pics are of what's in my garden.

Sad/nice story with the daffodils, Koolkat.

Our season has been strange due to the drought and then a bit of rain at the end of summer, this crepe myrtle has just managed to get it's flowering in. Nice to get some green grass after so long with none.

@Koolkat - here is some advice from the experts on daffodils:

I think that Watson's body is recycling and feeding the daffodils directly above him, if all the bulbs are planted in the same general area and same type of soil. The others may benefit from fertilizer as recommended in the article. But, I haven't fed any of mine in quite a while, and they continue to bloom enthusiastically every spring. Go figure...

Anyway, Watson's flowers are very pretty!

Thanks for the link, Canyon! I'll try some diet enhancement with them.

These are currants, a native bush, we've planted 4 along the fence line, alternating posts with the aforementioned daffodils. The hummers like them.
