Looks like some relief in sight for Southern California but not looking so good for the Pacific Northwest with a second year of drought and really nasty for the Southern states

Re: NOAA Winter outlook
From the link:
While temperature and precipitation impacts associated with El Niño are favored, El Niño is not the only player. Cold-air outbreaks and snow storms will likely occur at times this winter. However, the frequency, number and intensity of these events cannot be predicted on a seasonal timescale.”
That can be said about every winter: nothing can be predicted.
No. Illinois has not had any rain in several weeks. Hope we're not going into a drought.

My prediction: At some point, at some location, weather of some kind will happen.
Mark my words.
Mark my words.
Re: NOAA Winter outlook
yeah, I have made sure it will not rain here as I have gotten hay in the barn thinking we will have rainy winter
Re: NOAA Winter outlook
we've got el nino predictions here, yet again this October is the hottest on record. every year each month is the hottest on record. I'm madly planting shrubs with a view to making my garden more water wise and into something that traps the cool air, protecting the house from the heat.
less cyclones predicted this year, but as the heat increases each year, the bloody things are going to come further south and be in greater intensity despite being less frequent.
this summer is going to be hot, dry and hot, and the drought continues.

Re: NOAA Winter outlook
Weather is never certain but our water is incredibly warm and my Dad's boat has been catching Dorado and even Wahoo off the coast of San Diego. That's pretty much unheard of. I'm planning for lots of rain this winter.
Re: NOAA Winter outlook
Water is pretty warm here as well. Want fishing today and water temperature was about 65. Thought about dropping the poles and water skiing since clearly salmon was not going to bite in the warm water

Re: NOAA Winter outlook
"Warmer" than normal I can deal with- last winter was at single digits for an awfully long time.
