Final Update: Hilary the Rescue Pig

Postby Suzon » Thu Apr 21, 2016 1:16 am

For those of you that remember when I rescued Hilary the pig last year, I just wanted to let you know she was humanely destroyed this afternoon. She suffered a mysterious neurological illness and did not respond to treatment. Her body has been taken for testing; hopefully that will give us all some answers.

At least her final year of life was lived as it should be, outside, in the company of other pigs with an endless supply of love and cookies.

Please consider donating to L'il Ophan Hammies ( http://www.lilorphanhammies.org/ ) to help offset her vet bills. I've also set up a "discount code" on my Fine Art America site and all proceeds from any purchase will go to L'il Orphan Hammies. If it's OK with the moderators, I'll post the link and code.

Good-bye sweet girl.

:(

But thank you for helping make her last year a much happier one than she might have had.

I'm so sorry, she was a special girl. So glad she had a happy year with good human and porcine friends.

Agree with WheresMyWhite...Suzon, take comfort in the fact that she left the world knowing kindness and care. Take comfort yourself in knowing that you helped her.

I am comforted that she was loved and happy in her final days and she's fine now. No more pain.

I'm so sorry :( What a wonderful thing you did to get her to them for the time she was there. Such a grand life for a pig at that farm.

So sorry to hear the news, Suzon, nurturing really deepens our ties to a creature - What a wonderful picture, so happy looking out to the world, a far cry from the starving piggy under a bag - A happy fate to have her last year a healthy, happy, and loved piggy with many piggy and human friends.

The most important thing is that she knew she was loved, and that people (you especially) loved her. Bob the Wonder Pony never saw a pig, but I'm sure he will be just fine with Hilary at the bridge.

Your portrait of her hangs at the bottom of my stairs, so I see her every morning, and seeing her always brings a smile. The past few days it's been a sad smile.

I have her propped on my desk in a 16x20. I'm glad she's not suffering. And she was OK right up until she wasn't, so it was a good year.
