Vacation time is finally here! I'm leaving at about 4 am tomorrow morning, and will be on the road approximately 17 hours on my way to North Carolina. I'm beyond excited (can hardly focus on work at all, good thing I get off in 25 minutes). This will be my longest drive at one time, ever, and I'm going it alone. I'll have the "new" puppy with me to hopefully keep me awake Here's to hoping for a short (hahaha) uneventful drive!
On the way home, I'll be getting a hotel for the night and splitting it into 2 days. So the drive there will be the worst.
Deep sea fishing is on Sunday, so I'm sure by Monday I'll already be tired with several more days of vacation to go! I'm hoping to also visit the outer banks once or twice while I'm there. So much stuff I'd like to do, its going to be hard to choose!

Re: Hitting the Road!
Have fun! Having done many long solo road trips, I like to download podcasts to listen to. Music gets boring and doesn't engage the brain (even hard rock stuff that you'd expect to help you stay awake).
Keep calm and canter on.

Please don't force yourself to drive 17 hours straight. Stay on the road overnight. That said, have fun! I love long distance driving (but no more than 8 hours). It's a time for me to reflect, think, listen to books on tape, and eat junk food. Have a wonderful vacay.

Re: Hitting the Road!
I'm about 11 hours in and still going strong. Not tired at all yet. I'm taking a quick break to sit and eat and relax for a minute then I'm going to attempt the last leg. I will get a hotel if I really need one but I think I'm going to be ok!
