Paula, you're CRAZY! I found an ad for a Palomino gelding to lease at a barn less than 10 miles from work. Unfortunately no pictures or name of barn. He's a 1999 model, hunter, whose owner has 3 horses and not enough time. I've sent an inquiring email. I can ride hunter, just stick my butt in the air and post to the canter.

We'll see how nutty THIS ONE turns out.

I love palominos. I know a good horse has no color but goldies are awesome.
Fingers crossed!

Fingers crossed! One thing often leads to another even if the first thing doesn't work out.
Many years ago I went to look at a lease for a horse (a palomino, in fact) who turned out to be not only nuts but lame as a tree. (It was a bit of a cluster. There were three lame horses, the yard owner had her arm in a sling having broken her shoulder, and someone else was on crutches. Turned out they'd gone for a ride on the beach the previous day which had got out of control turned into a huge wreck... They were lucky no-one had been killed.)
As I was politely escaping the owner of another horse on the yard caught up with me and asked if I would be interested in looking at his horse as a lease. To cut a long story short, she was perfect for me I leased her for about 6 months and then purchased her. Such a good, safe, kind horse.

Paula, you are crazy, but go for it anyway. You do not know what will turn to gold if you do not treasure hunt.

Watch for a rainbow.
You may find a pot of gold.

So I'm meeting the Palomino and his mom Thursday after work. She has 3 horses, works, doesn't have time to ride all 3 but they are her babies. Sounds like a lot of crazy horse people! She just wants someone to pleasure ride them. Don't have to take lessons or go to shows. We shall see if the Palomino works out. If he doesn't, her other gelding is an option.

You are crazy.
He sounds like fun. A good hunter is worth his weight in gold and, as a palomino, he will even loo like gold.

Update. I just can't. I bailed on tonight's viewing. I just can't integrate horses into my life right now. It has nothing to do with the giant cluster F of last month's attempt to shareboard. I've spent 2 years rebuilding my life and have it where I want it and love it, and I just cannot retool again to accommodate riding multiple times a week. My friend said Paula, you're ambivalent about horses right now. And she's right. But I've come up from saying I would never ride again.
I talked to the owner today and she understood and said if I change my mind, please give her a call. So at least that door is still open.
