The trouble with these storms is that they're shockingly variable. Where my horses and I live, we've gotten maybe 5" over the course of the last week. Areas just 5-10 mi north and south of us have gotten 6" in a night. We're just lucky to be between the worst of the rain bands!

My sister has taken in some of the world's cutest evacuees-- 10+ Welsh ponies, including one very tiny and very adorable foal. They're staying over until the Brazos crests and the water level near their property recedes.

One thing is for sure, though-- doesn't look like much riding is in the forecast for me.

The Welshies are lucky to have you all!

I do get how it is bizarrely different, depending on location. I'm glad your place is okay.

When we bought our place 10 years ago, I didn't really think that much about the house being on top of a hill....now I'm very grateful!
