Any Kindle users here? Charging problem
My Kindle is several years old. There is a known problem from my understanding with issues recharging it. I've tried all the recommended instructions for holding the button to display the power light, etc. I've replace the cord and adapter to recharge too. It's simply not working. So my question is what happens to the books I've purchased that are already loaded on this broken device? How can I get the unread books transferred to a new Kindle device? Has anyone gone through this process?

The books are in your kindle account, you just need to download onto the new device.

Yep, when you get a new Kindle, you can go to your Kindle library from your computer and tell it to send books to the new Kindle, or you can sync from the new Kindle - it will show you everything you've purchased, and you then select the ones you want to download to the new device.
Keep calm and canter on.

Remember you can use kindle app on your phone/laptop/ipad and just download any of the books you want that you've already purchased.

Perfect - Thank you! I sure hope they resolved this problem in the more recent product. I liked the compact size for reading in bed.

Try a hard reset. I had an old one for a while and every now and then (if allowed to go fully flat) it needed a hard reset before it would power up again.
But, as others have said, the purchased books are on your account, not the device.
