Yesterday I got the vet bill for Miss A.'s stitch and sew. Let's play "guess how much Paula owes." We'll do over/under.

How close are you to Chicago? And was it an emergency + after hours call?
I'm going to guess $285

Higher than $285. I'm about 40 miles from Chicago, and yes, there was an after hours trip fee.

$487
I'm amazed I got out of the vet for $237 this morning for having a sarcoid frozen out of Tesla's ear + spring shots. They must have given me a discount since it was the third time treating the sarcoid. Kinna' makes up for Annabelle's bill from last week which wasn't much under 4 figures.

Weeeeeellll I sent Scarlett off for some surgery in December. Estimate 1000-1500 (infected sinus cavity). 5 days in hospital, plus the initial visit, one after hours visit after she came home... bill was over 3300.
I'm going to guess $US600 for some face stitches and meds.

texsuze is closest without being over. The total bill was $533. The call charge was $110, which included the urgent care charge. The cost for the stitches was $150, listed as surgical procedure. As normal, each admin of a drug is a separate charge. The Excede was the most expensive drug at $75. Assorted sedations, and "exam charge", and the tetanus shot (combined with EW/WNV). I'm fine with the charges.

Maia's two vet visits (Sunday and Wednesday) ran up a $1018 bill

Of course, she has no marketable skills, so I'm taking it out of her treat budget

Unemployed AND unemployable. Typical horses.....

I'm always amazed at how reasonable horse vet bills can be for these sorts of things. It is obscene what I spend on my dogs for so little (ex. vet does not come to my home!).

I love my horse vet. That's all I have to say!
All the treatment for Laddie's wild ride in February, including 3 official barn calls plus him crawling through the electric fence one day to check on him in passing, came to around the same amount as the cat's visit yesterday.
Not that I in the least begrudge paying the cat vet. I'm glad I'm not paying their overhead.

Well, you already revealed the total but I was going to say (and I am glad I was wrong) that since your stimulus check is $1200, the bill was $1200.
As I said, I am glad I am wrong. Kyra gets the works on Monday. Teeth, vaccines and her Legend shot.

I love my small animal vet plus, she has actually quite reasonale rates. I finally found one that does guinea pigs really well and had bloodwork, x-rays and a quite an excessive abdominal ultrasound done. When I went to pay the girl was quite apologetic about the bill. In the end it was about 350€. Quite allright with me for that amount of work (and did I mentioned she is specialized in
Guinea Pigs, any idea how rare that is?!)

AmityBee, can you post pics of your pigs? I love GPs.
I’m rather fond of my equine vet. He’s in his late 50s, early 60s, and is not allowed to retire as long as I have a horse.

I adore my guinea pig vet

He's fantastic! We're in the DC metro area, so you'd think there might be more, but, nope. Only three. The other two are about 2 hours away in traffic.

Yippee! I think you got off lightly on that incident! Glad Miss A. is on the mend!
Now, what is my prize for winning? Hmmm, the Complete Sanitation Package (which includes face masks, nitrile gloves, and bottle of hand sanitizer)? Or the Home Horse Treat Package (safe treats for the dentally challenged oldster)? Or the We'll Get Through This, Too package (breath mints, small assorted chocolates, two rolls of toilet paper)?

Just kidding, of course!

Don't mind if I do!

(Though, I just realized that I don't really have any "glamour shots" of them. There are three at the moment. I have room for four but lost a very special one last september and wasn't inspired to get a new addition just yet).
The one I lost: Clara

She was born tame and one of the smartes piggies I've ever had.
My oldest girl. The uggliest piggy I've ever had. My friend calls her pig nose

She's a bit of a lemon and I'm actually amazed that she's still with me. She's had severe upper respiratory and ear infections when she was little that left her with inner ear issues. Vet can't really do anything about that and they make chewing painfull at times. So she's on pain meds and gets extra mush to keep her weight up.

Then there is Albus, the man of the house. The biggest pig I've ever had. By far!

And the youngest: Minni (or Minerva)

Rose, Albus and Minni are on the fuzzy side beause they are CH Teddys (or Swiss Teddys).

Clara and the rest of you herd are adorable, AmityBee <3
We lost our sweet old girl last summer too

The boys were bereft, but they finally became best buddies.
