Some Good News
I’m so excited to finally say we’re expecting a little one in January.
I’m taking suggestion for the best, affordable, stretchy/maternity breeches. I’ll be riding as long as possible and mine won’t fit much longer.

Congratulations!!!
Since it's a limited time use, I'd be inclined to search out flat seamed maternity leggings — you can get dual usage with non-riding wear too.

That’s a good idea! I’ll definitely look into those. Although, I’m a bit inclined to look for something full seat since Phoenix likes to jump around sometimes

Wonderful news! May you have an uneventful pregnancy. Except for the end, of course.

Re: Some Good News
Yes! That is pikes peak! Scott’s parents live in Woodland Park Colorado and we have been out there this week visiting. It was so fun to get to tell them in person.
I made a friend while I was here last year, so I got to enjoy some trails in the Pike national forest on her lovely, trail smart TWH.
We’re driving home this evening overnight, sad day.

Great photo + congratulations!
These are not maternity breeches, but I find the Goode rider bodysculpting tights to be very adaptable and generous in their sizing. Despite being called "bodysculpting", they are not too tight and are very comfortable. They are quite high in the rise, too.

Wouldn't that be fun!
Actually, we may already have his name picked, its just a huge decision so we're taking time to be sure that's what we want.
Since our first loss, we said this is what we'd name baby if it was a boy. I have a feeling it's going to stick.

Re: Some Good News
Just be careful, maybe tell a few people the name before you put it on that birth certificate. DH and I accidentally named our son the same name as the town we live in! We picked the name because it was the name my dad went by as well as the name of one of dh's favorite cousins. Wasn't until ds was like 6 months old that someone pointed out what we'd done! Luckily, ds has always been fine with it. When he was little he used to point to all the signs and say "this is my park, my post office, my town", etc

Re: Some Good News
We’ve told several people our name, and only one so far hasn’t liked it lol. Most think it’s cute.
I suppose I can get your opinions too! Nothing set in stone obviously, but we’ve said this is his name for so long... when I told Scott it was a boy he automatically said the name so I doubt it will change.
It’s not a very common name anymore. But that’s part of why I love it. That and growing up with a deep love for Anne Of Green Gables.
*drumroll please*
Gilbert Allan Bates
His nickname would be Gil

Congratulations! I think Gilbert is a grand old name. (I don't think most people would tell you to your face that they didn't like the name. )

Re: Some Good News
Gilbert is a good name. The only Gil we know is the awesome, perfectionist handyman who did all the tile work, way back when we built our house; super individual! When DH or I mention "Gil", there is only one! (for us, anyway )

I love that! I definitely did not want a more common name and I know there aren't a whole lot of Gilbert's around anymore.
Things are going well so far! I'm about 17 1/2 weeks now and definitely starting to show. I'm also starting to feel him move, which is a lot of fun. I'm excited for when Scott will be able to feel him too. A lot of the first trimester icky's have faded, and I'm left feeling pretty good. Just getting winded very easily, low back pain, and I get tired much faster than normal. So overall, I feel I'm doing well and have been lucky.
I'm currently riding in my Kerrits Ice Fils since they're my stretchiest, but I don't like the seat... It doesn't have enough grip and I slide around a bit more than I'd like. I'm riding in a clinic later this month
We're starting to get into preparations full force, and while its fun its also so overwhelming. So many items and safety ratings it can really make your head spin. I'm checking out a huge consignment sale tonight and this weekend and I'm really excited to see if we can get some good deals. I knew babies needed a lot, but I still didn't realize how much until I started building our registry

i can only say one thing that will be useful, try not to stress it, and I loved " what to expect when you are expecting, " of course that was 23 years ago so there might be better books out since then,

Re: Some Good News
Oh, I like Gilbert! (We have a grandson named Archibald, which is another old fashioned, uncommon name that works rather well shortened.)
Dont stress too much, babies have survived pretty well for quite a long time now without all the stuff and safety ratings
