I’ve been asked for strange things but….

Last night at the barn a big storm blew through. The power went out, a tree was toppled by the roots and was blocking the driveway. And there aren’t things much louder than sheets of rain on a metal roof. Everyone who wasn’t riding went into the club room to wait out the storm. The mother of one student asked me quietly “do you have a joint?“. The mother is rather odd. I have nothing against smoking weed but I certainly wouldn’t do it at the barn. I politely told her no I did not have any weed. I hope she brings her own next week.

I found out she suffers from dementia and that she has asked others the same question. Her daughter is a working student and doesn’t drive yet, so mom drives her. They live about 40 miles from the barn so mom stays while daughter does her thing. Now I feel bad.
