Lamb Spam!

We had lambs born this morning, this is Dingbat and her new lambs, a ram lamb (the black one) and a ewe lamb (the brown one). This was not an intentional breeding (I don't breed sheep but I've acquired quite a few of them) but the result of an overachiever 4 month old ram lamb that I obviously should have separated sooner than I did! But Dingbat is a favorite and a good lamber and Brody Lamb (the sire) is the first lamb that was born here and part of how I became the accidental shepherdess so it's all good. And Dingbat is a favorite of DH, so that's a bonus.

She's really not a Dingbat, she's actually one of the smarter sheep (and none of them are as dumb as most people think they are), we started calling her that the rainy night she had her first lamb at 2 o'clock in the morning out in the pasture and it stuck. So she's called Dingbat with love, not with condescension.

So cute  . I bet they will be a hoot within a couple days. Very nice markings.

I know last year I got into watching baby goats on YouTube. The volcanos were taking a break  .

Chancellor,

Dingbat is a Katahdin, a breed of hair sheep (doesn't have to be sheared) from Maine. The sire is a Dorper, a South African breed of meat sheep (also a hair sheep). This actually wasn't an intentional breeding, but the work of an overachiever ram lamb that I apparently should have separated a little sooner. Dingbat is a good mom and makes beautiful lambs, so it's all good.

I have them for weed eating/fire prevention so they are for keeping not for eating.

I was more interested in their fleeces!
I have a friend who got sheep to keep her horse company. She is now as addicted to spinning their wool as I am!

Your lambs are very cute, especially that blazed faces. Mine are Katahdin. Dorper, Black Belly Barbados crosses, all hair sheep because I am not fond of shearing. I do use the mounted hair for wrapping legs . I'll share a couple of favorite pics
