RIP Viscount Ashley of Leftfield

Postby viscountessleftfield » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:28 pm

We lost Ash yesterday. 5 days shy of his 23rd birthday.

My vet suspects organ failure, and at his age he crashed quicker than a healthier, younger cat would have. He was fine Monday morning, week Monday night, and decline rapidly from 6am when I got up until we got to the vet at 8:15. We sedated him and after a few minutes made the decision to euthanize him. The vet who saw us said he was the oldest cat he'd ever had to put to sleep.

RIP Viscount Ashley of Leftfield. May you run free with Pawkie, Tiny Tim, and all your other furry family that has gone over the bridge before you. Once again, there is a hole in my heart and a missing piece in my house. You were the leader of our furry family, the patriarch. When things were sad, you were the one who comforted me. You were always a gentleman, always kind and patient. You taught my kittens their manners many years ago.

Oh Noes :(

God Speed, Viscount Ashley. Go catch up with all your Purry Pals.

My MamaCat is only 14 (or so), and she's clearly getting old :( :( :( Breaks my heart.

Big Hugs to You.

RIP Viscount Ashley. I'm so sorry for your loss. Such an incredible age for a cat. I had to put down my Ricky 13 year old a few weeks ago. He had advanced metabolic issues and had stopped eating. :(

RIP Viscount. The picture of him with the monocle made me snort with laughter. I bet that's how he would want it. I'm sorry for your loss--he sounds like a grand cat.

I'm sorry Stef. It's never easy to lose them, but losing the "lifers" is even harder.

(I lost my dear meezer at the grand old age of 21 last year--my vet was equally astounded at her advanced age and good health up to the last.)

I am very sorry for the loss of your grand old man, but hey - 23 years is a pretty darn good run for a cat! A testament to your good care.

He lived a charmed life with people who loved him always, a roof over his head, a warm bed to lay his head, and a full tummy.

The 2nd in command kitty has been wandering around the house crying today, which is unlike him, the other 'big boy' is especially affectionate, my girl is sitting at meals on wheels next door begging her daily handout, and my little guy is following his crying brother around, he seems bewildered by his brother's behavior. Going to take a while for our little crew to recover.

I think we need a kitten, but hubby said he'd find a new home for me if I brought home a kitten. He did say he would keep the kitten, though.

Sorry for your heartbreak. The more loved they are, the bigger the wrench when they leave. Hugs to you.
