Meet my new kitteh
This is my new kitty, Ursala. I haven't had a cat since I was a kid. She is 12 years old and a real sweetie. I got her from the shelter on Saturday. She's in my second bedroom with her litterbox, water, and food. I visit her every few hours and she rubs and purrs and loves pets. She loves her perch by the window and uses the scratching post.
I've lived alone for 12 years since my divorce, but decided I need another soul in my home. She will be free range by the end of the week. I will open the door on New Year's Eve when I will be home all day and she can come out at her leisure. I enjoy having her and don't want to leave her!

Oh she is sleek and lovely. Thank you for choosing an older friend. I am sure she is ready to step out and take control of your whole home right now

Merry Christmas Paula! Now that's some gift you gave yourself. Lovely cat, and older ones are absolutely the best.

Kudos to you for adopting a black kitty! She and our Ziggy could be sibs! Our shelter was so excited when we adopted him 4 years ago; they said black kitties are difficult to find good homes for (for a variety of reasons). Getting a mature kitty is so wonderful! We will need pictures of her 'coming out' party!

Love black kitties. We always had one growing up. My mother still keeps the tradition of always having one black cat.

She's so fun. She lovers her perch and looking out the window. I'm home today due to weather and the last time I checked on her, she greeted me, did a few rubs, and back to her perch. So she's feeling comfortable enough to start ignoring me.

She's likely miffed that you won't let her out already...get used to it because you will see that often!
She's very cute! Congrats to both of you!

Aw!! She's lovely!! So nice that you adopted her
I find it hard to understand why black kitties have a harder time being adopted. I think they are so beautiful

Re: Meet my new kitteh
She's still confined and is very happy. I love to spend time with her. She had some loose stool outside the box today. My worst nightmare! I cleaned it up and talked to my cat advisor who recommended holding off food tonight. Ursala does not understand the concept of self regulation (just like me). I've been giving her free choice kibble and a spoon of wet fuds morning and night. Guess her tummy can't handle it, along with the new surroundings. I bought Nutro kibble and wet which is gluten free, non GMO. I'll give her a little kibble tomorrow morning, but no more free choice until things settle down.

YAY for a new kitty!!
We just adopted a tiny black kitten from craigslist. Free and five months-----um, no, not even close.
Barely 10 weeks, and her first vet bill was over 200.00---but she's feeling great now and quickly becoming a necessary part of life here.
Next will be a siamese or three for me....

I'd love a Meezer at some point. I swear U. is part Meezer--her head looks it and she constantly talks when I'm with her.

Re: Meet my new kitteh
She's a beauty Paula! My now 3 yr old amazing beauty of a boy cat was a rescue. I used the food (Nutro) that the rescue had him on. It's not great tho and transitioned him to a high quality food after a few months. Nature's Instinct is what I'm on now. He did have a tummy issue for awhile and had to go on antibitiotics to clear out some nasties from his time in with other animals or on the streets etc. I got him stabilized with Hills E/D food then on the Nature's Instinct. He also gets Wholistic Felines Digestall Plus a prebiotic powder. I think a lot of rescues get tummy issues as their diet was probably random before and now they are getting a richer food. I never do free choice. Cats (and dogs) are predators and their system is geared to eat then fast. I feed my guy twice a day tho as he is extremely anxious about the possibility of going hungry lol! Good luck with beautiful Ursala.
