Friend is looking to sell one of her horses. She hasn't sold a horse since the advent of the internet and is wondering what are the best sites to explore. Rare breed sport horse. Thoughts? Where do you look when you're looking?

I like Dressage Daily. I look all the time at all the price ranges, even tho I'm NOT looking!

I am noticing that Facebook seems to list an awful lot of horses with specialty descriptions (breed, training, location, price, etc.). Is there a page for her breed?

I think it also depends on the overall price range/quality of the horse for sale.

I like www.dreamhorse.com . Its search function works better than many sites. See if it has a category for the breed of your friend's horse.

FB has a group started by one of our own called Dressage Horses Under $10,000 but if your friend's horse is rare it might not fit. Dressage Horses Weanlings to GP is very popular with the FB people also.

I looked on warmbloodsales.com and Dream Horse a lot, but ultimately found my horse on EquineNow.com (and the one I had vetted before her too, come to think of it).

Not so many in NA. A handful of licensed stallions. They don't seem to churn out xbreds, like the Friesians. Looks like there were only 20 foals registered last year ... pure and part. Maybe breeders don't register foals?

There are so many stinking facebook pages for selling and buying horses now. It SUCKS! I became a member of so many of them....And NONE had what I was looking for. I reallly miss the days when Dreamhorse,equine and equinesite were where to go. Now, because so many stupid free facebook pages, people put their ads there....and good luck finding ANYTHING in those pages.

Sometimes it is more effective to advertise by discipline (fox hunter, dressage level, etc.) than by breed.

But I agree with Chancellor's point. It can be annoying to navigate the piles of outlets! Amazingly, I actually found my mare on Dreamhorse a few years ago.

Eventingnation.com is a good place to advertise sport horses. If I were looking for a sport horse for serious competition, I would look there and warmblood sales.com. All the other sites have too many ads.
