Tripping after farrier and Holy heck look at this heel

Lynx has started tripping recently after farrier was here. And looking at his feet he's got a heck of a lot of heel on the left front which is where I believe he's tripping.

This happened in the fall and my vet was really unhappy with how much heel he had. The farrier corrected at the next time and my vet that we were on a better path. But looking today it looks like we are back where we were in the fall..

I had x-rays done with his feet during the pre-purchase exam last year and as far as my vet and a few other vets that saw the x-rays, nothing stood out as alarming. But I'm left wondering what is causing this foot to go more upright / more heel or if I need to just try and find a different farrier. My farrier is expensive and I'm his only client at the barn. And I'm not 100% sure if he's taking us the right direction...

Compared to the other one there's definitely more heel.

Lsp does Lynx have a tendency towards clubby feet? Hi/lo? That is definitely too much heel. May need to get more radiographs done and have him shod to them. Hope you can get in with the other farrier. I feel very blessed to have the best farrier in the SE do my horses

Last year he didn't and according to x-rays last year he didn't... I don't know if something changed. But I've mentioned to this farrier that the vets want his heels lower. He gets them down and then I think let's them creep back up or something.

Either way I'm paying about the money and i just don't feel as if he's doing the job that Lynx needs.

That is just wrong. I have mine barefoot and trim them myself and follow all kinds of trimming and shoeing pages. That's one of the worst heels I have seen. I don't even know how you can get it like that.

My older mare has one clubby foot and it's not even close to that. Is it the same on all feet? Can you let him go barefoot? One of the issues with shoes at this time of year is their feet grow so fast. I'm doing mine every 2-3 weeks. Otherwise it's a huge change every time I trim them.

This could definitely be a major cause of your tripping issue. Can you get pictures of all four feet? I can give you some FB groups with really good farriers to give feedback, but I know what everyone will say--that heel is way too long. I can just see the bones in the feet right now--he's standing on the toe.

Tanga, the other one is high but not that high. This major difference in height is new. I think this one has always had a slight tendency to be higher but I'm talking millimeters, not inches like now!!

I did post it in a group. Some told me yes heel too high. Some told me, tripping is never farrier caused (ha ha) and that I'm probably a very unbalanced rider which is the cause lol. Even though I pointed out it's a new issue and even with the GP trainer on him.

I'm pretty pissed. I've told him multiple times to keep heels lower. I think he just stops paying attention honestly.

This was after a 5 week cycle too... And I paid $210 for this job!!!! Grrrr. I'm over this guy.

This is the other foot although after taking it I realize it's not the same angle not as close up as the other photo. Heels are still high but not nearly as crazy high as the other one.

This is the x-ray from a year ago of the left foot that has the crazy high heel currently. I'm sure it looks completely different inside now

Both heels are WAY too high, though the left is worse. The x-ray looks fine. But now it would probably show a completely broken angle. Honestly, I would take those shoes off and and time every few weeks to slowly get the angles better. If it come down fast, that will also cause problems. I guess the good thing is he is growing a lot of hoof fast.

Is there any reason he really needs shoes? I would take him getting used to having them off and even paying for hoof boots. It's way better for him and probably cheaper. I can't believe it's $210 for four shoes!

In June he was foot sore and CSU wanted shoes all around. It has been a wet spring, then a very tough drought on already rocky ground. He had no foot for a bit. Obviously we have the opposite problem now.
