Horse Sport Boot Recommendations

Postby HafDressage » Sun Dec 04, 2016 5:49 am

I've always been a polo wrapper, but I've been having a harder time over the years finding polos where I like the material. Soooo, I've decided to make the switch to boots. I purchased some equillibrium flat wraps, which were not cheap, but I hate them. So, I'm debating what else to try. Recommendations? Below are a few that I've been perusing online.

...or perhaps the smarkpak version of DSBs.

Thoughts? What do you guys use?

What do you you hate about the Equilibrium wraps? I have a set, and agree that they're too expensive for what they are, but I do like them, so I'll use my set until the wear out. I also have a set of the Pro Choice Pro Performance Schooling boots in white. I like that the outer shell is perforated for breathability. They are also much sturdier and more protective than the Equilibriums. Both a plus and a minus is the double lock velcro. It makes them a little harder to put on, but once on, they will stay there. I would never TRAIL ride in my Equilibriums for fear of the velcro closures coming undone and losing a boot.

Edited to clarify: I don't trail ride in the Equilibriums for fear of losing one

Thanks straightforward!

SO I actually had come across those Pro-choice ones and spent a little time debating whether I would like them. In the past, I purchased these: https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/profe ... ront-13319[/img] that are similar to the one's you recommended. I ended up sending them back bc they were just more boot than I needed (tendon strike pad in back), but I think the one's you are suggesting might be worth considering.

With the equillibrium flat wraps, I feel that they don't give an event pressure through the length of the tendons. When I take them off, he is sweaty in some spots and not others. If I don't make them pretty tight, they slide down. So, I used them 3 times and now I'll probably offload them on facebook or ebay. I was pretty disappointed in them.

Hmm, I also just ran across these https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/vente ... boot-12347 which look like they have some nice features.

I like the premier equine brushing boots at the moment. I like boots that aren't too bulky, so the brushing/strike part of them aren't too padded. Also decent velcro.
Also, I avoid sheepskin or any fluffy lining only because I walk through grass out riding or to the arena, and grass seeds get stuck, so can wet arena sand.

I like Pelham Ascot Dressage boots. Are you looking for fetlock support or just brushing?

I use and like the original DSBs. I get mine from pelhamsaddlery.com
