Bridle recommendations

Postby PaulaO » Wed Oct 11, 2017 1:33 pm

Seems I'm buying tack. Miss A. needs a new bridle. Black, of course. French nose band (i.e., no flash, no crank). I have no idea what a monocrown is but I'm willing to try. She has a fine head, so I'm looking for cob size. Don't need reins. Budget is around $200.

I've had 2 Bobbys bridles and been very happy with them. However, I don't know this one. This price is quite a bit lower than what I paid new several years ago so that would make me a little hesitant. The two I purchased were in the $150 to $200 range on sale. There can be such a range on leather quality.

If you decide you want a Bobby's bridle, you might contact Nancy at http://rockhorseranch.webs.com/

She sells a lot of Bobby's Tack and should be able to advise you on the quality of leather for their various bridle series. I think she can mix and match pieces, if say you need long cheek pieces with a small browband, for example, or don't need reins. I have never ordered from her, but I do remember positive feedback on the UDBB about her.

This is the one I want. http://www.ebay.com/itm/STUBBEN-2300-Le ... 1180275698 Stubben 2300. I can't find any U.S. retailers though....I'm going to stop in the local high end tack shoppe tomorrow night. Maybe they can order it.

PaulaO - I bought a similar Stubben bridle from this same seller on Ebay. Mine has white on the brow band and nose band. It is a crank, I just don't "crank"it tightly. The seller shipped quickly and it is a nice quality bridle.

I just bought a Bobby's from the seller canyon recommended. Nancy recommended a particular model that was of better quality than the one I linked to. Miss A's measurements correspond to Bobby's so I feel comfortable. Hayburner, I'm glad you had a good experience with that seller. I was ::thisclose:: to pushing the button on the Stubben.

Although I didn't buy my bridles from Nancy I have bought other things from her and I would like to echo the praise. She's great to work with.

Got my Bobby's bridle today from Nancy. I upgraded to the signature series. Out of the box it's soft soft soft. Lovely padded nose band. The reins are cob length so I may put on the reins from Bob's bridle. I can't wait to put it on Miss A.
