So, Meezer fans, we have a new family member
This morning, I opened facebook to find a share from a friend about a cat who was sitting in the shelter in West Valley City, right by our office.
I showed it to my husband.
About three hours later, he somehow needed to run over to Costco in West Valley, which just so happens to be a couple of blocks from the shelter.
About half an hour later I got a call from the shelter asking if I was OK with him adopting this cat...
I always thought I was the softie in the family.
So, meet Osiris. He's actually not feeling too well tonight, has a stuffed up nose and the sneezes, so he's safely quarantined and fast asleep and has an appointment with my vet first thing in the morning.
Not the greatest pics, as we are in a 5ft square space with lousy lighting. He's a blue point.

He's a beauty! I love your husband.
Hope Osiris feels better soon. That is a very god-like name for a very god-like creature.

He's beautiful! I love how the shelter called you to ask if it was okay!
Re: So, Meezer fans, we have a new family member
Just gorgeous. Well done DH.
Re: So, Meezer fans, we have a new family member
I have a soft spot for Meezers, and the space reserved for blue boys is particularly soft (my first two boys were blue points).
He's gorgeous! I hope he settles in and feels better soon!

Re: So, Meezer fans, we have a new family member
He is so much better this morning! He obviously slept well and had eaten everything in sight overnight and was hungry and alert. Most of the sneezles had subsided. The vet thinks a viral infection, he's not that sick, and he'll work out of it, and the stress of yesterday just pushed him over the top. So he has some anti-inflamatories to make him feel better, and gets to be isolated from the rest of the furry family and just allowed to settle in and decompress for a few days.
He does like to eat... he's had two breakfasts and polished his plate, and would really like lunch as well.
The other two cats are aware that there is "someone" in the mudroom, and are sitting around in outraged poses. They normally hate each other with a passion, but have developed some level of truce at the concept of "another." I think he's a friendly enough little guy that he will buddy up with my old cat who is friendly but socially inept, but I think my female Siamese, who thinks we are all peasants, will be a tougher nut to crack.
Everyone is blissed out on catnip at the moment, though...

Re: So, Meezer fans, we have a new family member
VBOpie, as far as we can ascertain, his owners parted company, and he ended up getting dropped off at the pound, which normally only takes in strays rather than drop offs, so they bent the rules there, and also normally only keeps cats for a week--he had been there for at least two, so they bent those rules too, thank goodness.
WHO DOES THAT?
He's 8 years old, cute as all get out, and he's got quite the set of pipes on him when he gets going
There may be several gratuitous cat pix over the next few days, I'm afraid...

You must document his move-in process. Love his name and profile.

What a regal, handsome cat (and I am not generally fond of Siamese). I hope he blends easily into your household. Thank you for giving him a great home.

What a handsome guy! He seems to have won the family lottery (and you husband's pretty awesome for just "happening to be in the neighborhood" to pick him up!)
Re: So, Meezer fans, we have a new family member
Looking at his ears, I don't think he is a purebred. There is a GSD in there somewhere. . . .

I can't say that initial introductions to the rest of the feline crew went swimmingly. He apparently has no fear and likes to chase things, and they were both surprisingly terrified of him. I could certainly speak enough cat to understand Holmes as he said "WTF is THAT?" shortly before he exited through the cat door...
We are going to have to do this in very small doses.
He is, however, feeling great now. He loves detective series on TV. Was sitting on DH's lap watching "Heer & Meester" intently last night (probably thought it was "Heer & Meezer" )
Funny how they have their things. We had one who was just entranced by Mozart piano concertos.
