New horse announcement!! Introducing Connor, rising 7, OTTB gelding, by Rip van Winkle. Has been off the track for about 18 months, and actually, he's been here at our place for 3 months (already!), but I feel we are still in the getting-to-know-you stage, so he's still the 'new horse'. His exercise rider bought him after he finished racing, but she felt he was a bit small for her to do eventing with, so put some work into him, then sold to me.
He's settled into our herd (with only a few stressful moments when they were first put in together, after a couple of weeks of over-the-fence contact). And he's settled into 'work' : just doing basics w/t/c, leg yield, in the arena, and riding out around our place, getting him used to hills, water, mud, and bush. We've pulled his shoes (was only shod in front), so are working through a transition to barefoot (if possible, we'll see how it goes), so doing much walking in hoof boots, and encouraged that the new hoof is growing well and angles looking better already.
Given that I'm at home and unable to work for at least the next few months due to Covid, I should make a committment to posting in the Training forum with some goals, especially with spring on the way here, the days are getting longer and warmer, and more conducive to riding.
So, here are a few photos :

I love a bay. Hope you really enjoy each other

I like his colour too and see that he's in his winter woollies like mine (although they are shedding now). Look forward to 'seeing' him in the training forum!

Lovely!! I too am a fan of bays. Nice an uber experienced rider put some "regular" riding time on him already.

Thank you fellow DDBBers. Yeah, he's fuzzy at the moment, but shedding flat out. I'm looking forward to seeing him in his summer coat

Congratulations! I think you have a good one.
Re: New horse! : Connor
Nice! The first picture is what tells me his is a quality horse. Look at how nicely his end end comes under and the separation of the hinds legs. That is a sound horse with quality movement!

I love that bay color, too. He looks like a nice dressage prospect. Thanks for sharing.
